Ethnic influences are crossing over into western fashions. The one that I see the most is Indian influences. A lot of the dresses I saw in the designers lines are "wrap" type dresses. Not only are they in the clothes, it is in the movies too. A very popular movie is the "cheetah girls one world".
There are a lot of Indian inspired clothes on the runway. Therefore they are appearing in stores and women are buying them left and right.Women want to be dresses in the hottest styles. Indian clothes are in style and are a huge hit.
The "cheeta girls" have a movie called "one world". It has an Indian them. The "cheeta girls" have a clothing line, and young girls are buying these outfits. Disney is getting the girls involved. Both the mothers and daughters are dressing in the Indian like clothing.

New York fashion week
In my opinion, a lot of the designers are going with an earth theme in their designs. Everyone is becoming more aware of the enviroment. I think they took it into consideration and included it into their designs. A few designers who stood out to me were BCBGMAXAZRIA, Calvin Klein, and Monique Lhuillier.
Calvin Klein's designs are nature based colors to me. He used nuetral colors along with natural colors such as, red, blue, and yellow. There was a lot of tan colors with a shimmer as well. His theme was "soft geometrics" I thought that was really cool. I have never seen anything like that before. It's almost like they had to startch the outfit, but still use fabric softner.
Monique Lhuiller designs are earth based as well. She used flowing materials that reminded you of nature. As the models walked it looked as if the dress was flowing water. I liked BCBGMAXAZRIA's collection because he used geometric angles, but the dresses were still flowing. It was kind of like a combination of Cavin klein and Monique Lhuiller's line.
